Emmanuel Mbakwe

Emmanuel Mbakwe is the National Leader of the Apostolic Church, UK. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1958.
He began attending the Apostolic Church in Kennington, London, in the early ‘70s; having left his native Nigeria as a teenager to join his parents in the UK. Emmanuel fondly recalls his conversion; it was a process that took place over a period of six to nine months, when he became increasingly conscious of his sins, the need for forgiveness and a Saviour. He says, “I can still recall vividly how joyful I was, singing about Jesus His love for me as I walked the streets near the Church”.
He was called as an evangelist in the local Church in 1984, ordained as an Elder two years later and called into Pastoral ministry in May 1992, as a non-salaried Pastor; but ordained in the March of the following year, as the Church building was at that time undergoing extensive reconstruction.
Emmanuel sees his ministry as one of helping people to become – to become and fulfil their God-given mandate here on planet earth, as a prelude to what they will be in heaven. He is recognised as an Apostle in the Body of Christ and Pastor-teacher with a global vision and brings a unique insight into God’s agenda for His Church and the world.
He doesn’t have a favourite book in the bible as such; however, there are certain books that he goes back to time and time again. These have vital lessons either in leadership, doctrine, history, spiritual warfare, etc. In no particular order, these include: 1 st & 2 nd Samuel; 1 st & 2 nd Kings, Nehemiah, Exodus, Psalms, Isaiah, Acts, Romans. His favourite hymn, written by Judson W. Van DeVenter is: ‘All to Jesus I surrender, all to Him I freely give’. In terms of a favourite verse, he confesses to having none; but one that comes to mind most immediately is one of his father’s favourites – Jeremiah 29:11.
